荞菜节是居住在云南文山州、总人口仅2000多人的彝族支系花倮人最隆重的节日，吹祖辈传承下来的葫芦笙、跳被列为中国第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录的葫芦笙舞是荞菜节的传统，本片是一部围绕花倮人葫芦笙舞的传承展开故事情节的农村题材、少数民族题材爱情故事片： 葫芦笙传承人乌和老爹让女儿阿娜乌招亲做花倮人葫芦笙传承人，阿娜乌为获得真爱远走他乡，一家人千里相思二十余载难聚首，乌和老爹的孙女乌玛索为让爷爷和姑妈阿娜乌尽释前嫌重续亲情而努力时，做着歌星梦外出闯荡的比阿乌回到花倮寨，向乌玛索求婚，致富能手阿迪也深爱着为使花倮人的生活更加和谐、幸福、美满倾心尽力的乌玛索，而他们的小伙伴阿依嫫恋着比阿乌，木果、木实又同时爱上天生丽质的阿依嫫，乌和老爹为圆旧梦，又给这几个青梅竹马的年青人的爱情设下“明碉暗堡”，错综复杂的爱情争夺战正酣，阿娜乌突然回家，一家三代人的生离死别震撼着乌玛索、比阿乌、阿迪、阿依嫫、木果、木实的内心世界，他们踏上了刻骨铭心、生死不渝的情感旅程。
